oppression isn’t generational and trying to frame politics as “the old people are wrong and the young people are right” erases the fact that there are old people who have been fighting the good fight for decades and the fact that there are young people who are literally nazis

Plus while there might be less old people fighting the good fight it’s usually because they were killed or were part of the minorities that have poor living conditions that kill you early

As came up recently, in fact: Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Don’t Survive to Become Seniors

jesus fucking christ look at all these fragile pieces of shit who can’t watch a movie with women and poc in them I'm💀💀💀

everyone who’s commenting “haha wouldn’t that leave like 5 minutes of the movie then😂😂” is missing the point SO hard

no, it wouldn’t. cutting all the female characters, poc and gay “rep” is actually….pretty easy. this guy did it and it’s still a solid movie.

you guys are giving marvel WAY too much credit. They don’t give a shit about representation, they don’t give a shit about you - the only thing they care about is money and looking Woke™

they did that by advertising how “progressive” they are for adding the first openly gay character ever!! let’s see when we can get an openly gay main character. or at least, dare I suggest, one that has a name.

they did that by hyping carol the fuck up and then only using her for 3 scenes

they did that by putting all the female characters in one shot for a Girl Power UwU scene; “oh look at us! we have all these female characters in one shot! we don’t hate women” isn’t that sad? that you can fit all your girls into one single shot? that despite your claims, all the girls combined still only have 116 minutes of screentime while the men have almost 400? isn’t that fucking pathetic?

it is. and look at this douche, look at all the assholes out there, this doesn’t mean SHIT to them, they take half an hour out of their day and cut a few scenes and boom - everything marvel claims is “progressive” is gone. none of their fake wokeness is important to the plot.

the gay character? who even is he?

T'challa and his family? their ~ 1 minute of screentime is easily cut

Sam becoming Cap? Where will we see that? In the show? Right. This person cut the scene and did that change the plot of endgame? the answer is no.

Carol? not much to cut since she was barely there

Natasha? The only thing she was good for is to die

Pepper? housewife. All he needed to do was cut the scenes where Tony washes the dishes and talks to Pepper, and cut Rescue’s, what, 20 seconds of screentime? and boom. ideal female, right?

Valkyrie? Oh she’s there alright, in the background, doing jack shit until Thor calls her queen in one scene, but does that scene mean anything? Do any of her scenes mean anything? Not to them. 10 seconds is all it takes and her scenes are all gone.

Nebula? kidnapped. dead

Gamora? insignificant. cut

you can’t mock this dude because “haha he has no movie left now 😂”. you gotta mock, no, hate marvel because that’s just the thing - he does. not a single poc or woman or lgbt person did anything that, if they left it out, the movie would make no sense.

and that’s just what he did. and yes, he’s pathetic for it, but don’t think marvel gives a single fuck about you. they don’t.

Some clothing items come with stitches that are MEANT to be removed

lifepro-tips:

I see this happen often enough that I don’t think this falls under common knowledge, and I didn’t see a previous post on this topic. So here goes!

Some clothes have stitches that only serve a temporary purpose and are MEANT to be removed. Here are some examples:

The one that more people know about: pockets being sewn shut, especially on dress pants and blazers. The pockets are sewn shut to keep the garment flat and neat during shipping and display. You can tell that pocket stitches are temporary and not permanent (like for fake pockets) in two ways: first, the stitches will be big and loose compared to other stitches on the garment, and secondly, the pocket will have a physical “bag” or some other encapsulation of fabric on the underside that shows that something is meant to be put in it. Fake pockets will just have the outline of the pocket opening on the underside.

A less-famous example: Blazer vents and skirt slits being sewn closed. I’m referring to when the back bottom edge of a blazer, coat, or skirt has a split, slit, or flap in it. They are often sewn closed with a big, loose, “X” of thread, again to keep the garment flat and neat during shipping and display, but definitely meant to be cut when you get home. If they DON’T get cut, then the garment can’t separate and move where it is supposed to, and it forms a binding, bunched-up shape around the rear end which you do NOT want, trust me. The number of thread Xs I see walking around my city is frustrating, to say the least.

Another one: Branding tags sewn on coat sleeves. This one is understandable, because many garments have branding sewn on the sleeve that is more of a fashion statement and meant to be there. However, many dress coat, blazer, and outerwear brands will sew a small label towards the end of the sleeve, so that the brand can be displayed while they are on a display rack, but it’s meant to be taken off later. You can tell the difference by the stitching: temporary tags will have only a few loose stitches on either end, while permanent tags will usually have tight, small stitching all around the border.

Depending on the type of garment and its unique details, there may be other temporary stitches to contend with, but again, stitches that are meant to be cut are usually much bigger and looser than their neighbors, and the thread stands alone with no reinforcement or connection to the rest of the garment.

I wish i could find this one article written in I believe the 90’s that went under the radar on abortion. The author said that the “life” arguments are basically useless on either side and what actually matters is that humans shouldn’t have a right to use other human bodies as a resource without consent no matter how alive or sentient they are, even if they’re on the brink of death you have the right to deny them access to you. It probably was too radical for pro-choice activists back in those days but like…that’s the most robust arguement lol so we need 2 being that back and dead the pontifications and splitting hairs about “life” in my honest onion

I found it. Actually, it was written in the 70’s. She was way ahead of the curve.

The article is ‘A Defense of Abortion’ by Judith Jarvis Thomson. Essential reading!

If you cannot demand that a person donate their organs to keep you alive, you have no right to legislate that an embryo gets to use a woman’s body to keep itself alive without the woman’s consent.

So, we successfully moved out but my partner lost their job a few months ago and we’ve been living off our savings. Those are starting to run out before we can find more work. Consider helping us with rent, food, and staying on psychiatric meds.

I’m supposed to hear back about my SSI decision in the next thirty days, but that will be complicated by the fact that we’re getting married in 30 days.
